6A SUNDAY, MAY 19, 2024 JOURNAL COURIER LAFAYETTE Sammy Jackson, 81, passed away on May 8th, 2024. Sammy was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on August 8, 1942. Sammy and Sandy were mar- ried for years. He worked thirty-four years at Alcoa and at- tended Dayton United Methodist Church. Sammy is survived by his wife, Sandy Jack- son; daughters; Lisa Jackson, Lori Heinsen, Lisa Heinsen (deceased) sons, Jeff Jackson, Michael Heinsen, Brock Heinsen; grandchildren; Megan Miles, Devin Jackson, Alexandria Jackson, Scarlett Jackson, and Ariel Kulhawick.

He was born on March 11, 1998 in Lafayette. Na- thaniel graduated from Jefferson High School in 2016 and attended Pur- due University. Surviving are his dad, William (Angela) Parks; his siblings, Kaylee Parks, Katelynn Parks, Anjelina Salazar, Mercedes Salazar, Andrew Salazar, Jakobi Rico, and Juniper Parks; his grandpa, Dennis Parks; his aunts uncles, Amy (Umberto) Brinkley, Lynn Casanova, Kevin Parks, Adam (Shannen) Parks, and Mark Braden; and his great aunt uncle, Debra (Bill) Burkhart and Wayne Braden.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Pamela Parks and Mike Braden and his great grandparents, Perly Edith Braden. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Seeds of Hope Ministries at 17 South 7th Street, Lafayette. Nathaniel William Braden Ryan Noble Loveless, 32, of San Diego, California, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2024. He was born July 1, 1991, in Lafayette, IN to the loving parents Roy Douglas and Kimberly Ann (Risk) Loveless.

Ryan was a graduate of McCutcheon High School and Purdue University, where he excelled academ- ically and received a Bachelor of Science in Envi- ronmental and Ecological Engineering. Following his graduation from Purdue, Ryan embarked on a journey of impactful work and exploration. He began his career in Indianapolis before relocating to San Francisco in the summer of 2020. Accompanied by his beloved father Roy, Ryan embarked on a mem- orable cross-country journey in his small Chevy Trax, which included his two cats. In 2023, Ryan settled in San Diego, where he continued to pursue his passion for environmental conservation.

Ryan dedicated himself to meaningful work, leaving a lasting impact on various environmental cleanup efforts across the country. From the cleanup of pipeline leakage contamination in North Dakota to his involvement in the restoration efforts at the Hinkley, California groundwater contamination, made famous by Erin Brockovich, commitment to environmental stewardship was unwavering. He found immense joy and in his particularly during the cleanup following the 2023 East Palestine train derailment in Ohio. In addition to his professional endeavors, Ryan adored his two feline companions, Rhaegar and Betsy, who brought him endless joy and com- panionship throughout his adult life. He enjoyed musical talent and played the piano and saxophone in multiple school bands and sang in the Bach Chorale Youth Choir in New York City at Ground Zero after 911.

Ryan really enjoyed exploring other cultures and found great joy in multiple mission trips through his involvement in CUMC Youth Group including clean-up from hurricane Ike in Galveston and helping the homeless in Chicago. Ryan is survived by his devoted parents, Roy and Kimberly Loveless, his cherished sister, Jessica DeHerdt, and his adored nieces, Lynley and Layla DeHerdt as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Mary Jo Risk, Gerald Philip Risk, Odell Loveless, Joseph Noble Loveless, Jr. and brother-in-law Corey Everett Mi- chael DeHerdt. Ryan will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by numerous friends, including his special companions: Hayley Morris, Alaina Wastl, Kiley Moore, Ashley Powell, Cayla Irlbeck, Rachel Hazen, and Emily Howard.

A memorial service to celebrate life will be held on Saturday, June 1st with visitation from until the time of the service at 2:00 pm at Christ United Methodist Church, 3610 S. 18th Street, Lafayette, Indiana. resting place will be at Meadow View Cemetery in Lafayette. A potluck dinner will follow at the church. Family and friends are invited to bring a covered dish and enjoy the stories and fellowship.

Balfe, 89, of Lansing, Mich- igan, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024.

Bob was born in Illinois in 1934 to William C. and Eleanor (Schmitt) Balfe and grew up in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was a graduate of High School. In 1959 he graduat- ed from Indiana State University with a bach- degree in busi- ness. His marriage of 65 years was to Mary Lou Rector, who preceded him in death in 2020.

Bob worked as a claims adjuster. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserve and was a 32nd Degree Mason. People who knew Bob appre- ciated his quick wit and wonderful sense of hu- mor. He is survived by his daughter, Susan Balfe, of Mason, Michigan, and his son, Michael Balfe, of Brussels, Bel- gium.

Paul was born July 27, 1958 in Louisa, KY, to the late Paul Carnahan Sr. and Janice Hender- son. He was a 1976 gradu- ate of Lafayette Jefferson High School. Paul worked for Eli Lilly for many years before retiring.

He enjoyed hunting, building, and he was very pas- sionate about politics. In 1985 he married Carla Cassell in Lafayette, IN and she survives. Paul is preceded in passing by his father: Paul Carnahan, son: David Carnahan; and brothers: John, and Dale Carnahan. Along with his wife, Carla, he is survived by his children: Michael (wife, Kylie) Carnahan of Wolcott, IN; Caitlinn Carnahan of Nashville, TN; Joshua Hicks of Southport, FL; Daren Hicks of Bonifay, Fl; Leslie Whitten of Southport, FL; moth- er: Janice Henderson of West Lafayette; and sib- lings: Ruth (husband, Larry) Maggard of Lafayette, Judy Shupe of Indianapolis, IN and Sue Donoho of Indianapolis, IN. To honor wishes, a private celebration of his life will be held at his home in the presence of close family and friends.
